also known as Yogi Bhajan. These teachings include kirtan, meditation,

Position Summary:
The
Dasvandh Development Director is responsible to successfully create and
carry out the strategic and operational plans for Dasvandh. Dasvandh is
a tithing program that supports the mission of Sikh Dharma. The
position is responsible for planning, coordinating and administering
organizational tithing program including cultivating and acknowledgement
of donors, writing, planning and developing special project and
programmatic funding in coordination with organizational goals,
cultivation of individual gifts, appeal campaigns, special events.
Reporting: The Dasvandh Director works directly with and reports to the General Manager regarding strategic fundraising and organizational growth objectives and to integrate the efforts and organizational resources of Sikh Dharma International.
Requirements:
Business management skills
including but not limited to strategic and operational planning,
creating and managing budgets, and management of employees in a
collegial culture.
The candidate will have a hands-on approach, experience working within a team office environment, managing a small team to deliver objectives, and excellent team communication, presentation, and writing skills.
In depth knowledge and demonstration of the body of teachings known as The Teachings of Yogi Bhajan, Sikh traditions and technology, in particular, interest in prosperity technology, and the technology of tithing.
Excellent computer skills in all Microsoft Office applications, and preferred experience in Frontpage, Lotus Notes, Raiser's Edge (database management), Adobe software: Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat
Excellent customer/donor relations skills, including personal letters and phone demeanor and calls, and a good memory for donor information
Data entry, data research into, and reporting from Raiser's Edge (database management)
Website development and website work (Frontpage or other programs), including website, eNewsletters, eCampaigns and other internet based work
General knowledge of mailing systems
Main
Duties and Responsibilities
Tithing
Program responsibilities
To provide central leadership and coordination for the tithing area, for
Sikh Dharma International Dasvandh, by developing and managing the
annual Strategic and Operational Plan and budget and ensuring effective
implementation of all fundraising activities of the Dasvandh office
including but not limited to:
Overall annual fundraising
campaign including multiple appeals research, design, creation, and
mailings. Creation of
fundraising and gift materials and execute direct mail and online appeal
campaigns.
Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with current and prospective donors. Coordinate donor acknowledgement letters and other correspondence in cooperation with Administrative Coordinator.
e-philanthropy internet newsletters and fundraising campaigns;
Development and delivery of prosperity courses and international programs;
Leverage emerging technologies to raise funds online; manage website, design and upkeep;
Manage fundraising databases (Raiser’s Edge) and tracking systems, including donors, grants, special events and development functions. Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
Administration: Recruitment, training, supervision, and assessment of staff; and to ensure effective systems of program planning, work organization, communication and reporting within the fundraising office. Handle administrative and organization aspects of the Dasvandh Office including meetings and conference calls (i.e. prepare and distribute notices, agendas, minutes, etc.).
Plan, implement and coordinate fundraising presentations, special events such as year end campaign materials, and programmatic sponsorships. Coordinate programmatic gift giving efforts: writing, research, case statements, proposal writing, reporting
Engagement and management of volunteers. Work with the board of directors to develop fundraising skills and integrate development strategies. Serve as the organizational liaison when requested on behalf of Dasvandh and Sikh Dharma International.
To advise the General Manager and Sikh Dharma International Board of Directors on maximizing the fundraising potential of Dasvandh activities and to identify and draw attention to organizational and program issues related to fundraising with implications for Dasvandh’s work;
To plan
and support the preparation and approval of the fundraising budget; to
ensure that funds and activities for fundraising projects are tracked
and reported;
Maintain a strategic overview of fundraising developments, both
internally and externally, monitoring and evaluating the success of
fundraising endeavors and ensuring Sikh Dharma International is
proactive in utilizing new and innovative techniques as well as
responding accordingly to the trends of gift receipts.
To work with worldwide Dasvandh programs to create fundraising resources, by helping to plan and coordinate an integrated program of strategic support, training, and giving in countries around the world.

Preparation and Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree with 3 or more years experience in nonprofit fundraising or similar environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and database management experience.
- Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to be a self-starter and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Entrepreneurial approach to working in an environment with specific resources, and ability to leverage, external partners and the talent and time of the board of directors and volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.

- Ability to travel occasionally and occasionally work evenings and weekends.

Compensation
The position is a full-time position, working 40 hours a week. Salary dependent on experience. Position includes full benefits.
